Stan's Family Page
 Revision 4, July 2002

I grew up with a great family in Maryvale, Arizona, a John F. Long subdivision in west Phoenix.

Well, there was  DAD... here is a special picture of him and Warren (my brother) taken on a fishing expidition several years ago. At dad's eulogy over two years ago, Warren told a story of this picture and how he saw the reflection of himself in Dad.
I feel that I hold a reflection of dad, also.

Dad passed away on May 28, 1999.  He was good sweet man.
Warren has said: "he just had too much life".  We all miss him.

On the other hand, there is MOM.

Wow, I got her to come over for a little pool party in August 2001.  Way to go MOM!  Now she is 83 and has weathered quite a bit of medical stuff-successful cataract and hip surgeries, and more. That's another story, though.

Mom is great....she still has much fire and character. Her interests include: stitchery and reading. Shes a very big reader.  Over the last few years,  her voracious literary apetite spans over Judaica, Mark Twain and the fabulous Richard Feynman.

She does occasionally cook up a storm (or tornado) in the kitchen, creating assorted favorite Jewish delectables, including such perenniel favorites as Kneidlach (matzo balls, and they are sinkers), or kreplach (kind of a Jewish won-ton, my favorite).

Mom is still pretty darned sharp, and nothing gets past her. She will most often offer her opinion if asked for or not! She loves to read-has a very large library, and keeps up on current affairs. In past years she has been a fan of Dr. Laura and Larry King.

Mom and Dad were married (mostly happily!) for 53 years. Mom is kind of the Patron Saint of the family and Dad was the friendly bystander, always there. Sadly, now he is not. Mom was an RN, the head nurse of Phoenix Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, and later on an industrial nurse. Dad had a variety store and "Wil Brown's Furniture" in Phoenix, did some management elsewhere, and worked at the Post Office. I loved Mom and Dad very much.

They have had a parade of pets...unfortunately time has weathered them all away.  <<<sigh>>>

And now, for something complete different.  Well...hey...it's...Warren, my Big Brother!

Yep, speaking of animals, there is Warren! No, he's no animal, but he is my brother! He lives in Santa Clara, CA and now works with "Car Audio and DJ Depot". He lives with his girlfriend of many years Bernadette and he is an easy going, loveable guy, who has only a few interests....fishing (he has a boat) and getting away to Mexico whenever he can. He really loves it down there!

In my household, I have my very cute scaredy
kitty cat Bungie
and a coupla dumb old furbies.  Bungie is a great cat, still a kitty approaching 10!!

Hey, do you wanna hear Bungie and me? Well, here she is!

That's it for the main family.  Want more? All I have left are my keeno RELATIVES!

Lesseee....here's the story...

The Brown clan originated in Chicago, but my parents moved to Phoenix (thanks to Grandpa Meyer Gershman on Mom's side) around 1949. I was born here in 1951. Most of the Brown family remains in Chicago, while the Gershmans are mainly here in Phoenix.

On Dad's Side, there is his Brother Marv, "Uncle Docky" to me....a semi-retired union Physician along with Aunt Libby. They begat my two cousins Jill and Cynthia (Jill has two kids, Jessica and Mitchell and Cynthia has two boys, Eric and Matthew).

And there's Dad's sister Millie who married the huge Joe Kaplan. Aunt Milly is small. Uncle Joe has a brother they call "Tiny", by the way. Uncle Joe besides being a great big loveable guy, has a huge heart, too. They had three children, my cousins; First, there is Iris (married to Jerry) with two children, Emily and Greg, last time I checked he was going to the University of Arizona in Tucson studying astronomy. Then and there is Linda who is damn near retired, and Sammy who lives in Israel and is married to Simcha, a sabra (native) with four kids (Adam and Gittit, with with Hagar and Nimrod).

On Mom's side, there is the Gershman clan. As the Gershman's are mostly in and around Phoenix, I'm closer to them and know more about them.

Uncle Carl and Aunt Weedie, moved from Maryvale to Goodyear. Uncle Carl still runs Gershman Appliances, so if you need a new washer, dryer or refrigerator in the Phoenix area, be sure to give him a call. Aunt Weedie (for Ouija), is a long-term TV watcher.
Their kids are Neil  (married to Ellen, with kids Lena and Kyle) who sells medical lab equipment.  Neil's brother is  Mark, who manages Ajo Al's restaurant in Phoenix that serves really excellent Mexican food (including those killer hot fajitas caliente).
Their sister is Lori Ann who is in Sedona.

Next there is Uncle Carl's sister, Aunt Lydia.  She is a professional violist.  She and Uncle Lorin (who died many years ago) use to live around the block from Mom and Dad.  Their son is Zachary (called Zach).
Wild and crazy Zach, now runs video and special effects  at the Las Vegas Imperial Palace's "Legends in Concert" show! Aunt Lydia is retired, but manages to stay very busy.

Aunt Miriam (the "Czarina" to mom) is the PhD (English) smarty-pants, and her husband Uncle Benny is a retired psychiatrist in San Bernadino, CA. They are both pretty much retired. Their children are David and wife Supranee (everyone calls her "Add"), with children Ila Bo and Hem. Debbie (she was married to Moshe, who runs Modern Videofilm in Hollywood) are parents of  Sivan {hitched June, 2001}, and Danielle and lives in LA proper.  Deviie has two sisters, Johanna in Boston and Sonia in Columbus, Ohio.

....and then there's Anna...no, Andrew...no-nevermind.

Oh well, folks, that's the Family page for now...if you got this far, you are a brave soul to dive into my family sotry! Everyone needs a great family like mine to make them well rounded, and keep them in a positive state of mind, with a proper set of values.   Like Mom says... "One day at a time!"

Love,

Stan
